You sort of get used to outliving the people you come to care about. The changes in the world keep you preoccupied but... it can get boring when nothing drastically changes and the people always seem to be the same.

It's much easier to not care. People leave, even when they're still around. Being immortal just ensures the process repeats itself over and over.

[ does katherine want forgiveness? yes. does she want to acknowledge she needs it and what for? no. she's spent so much of her life allowing herself to be the bad guy that she had never once thought to look at herself and see that perhaps she wasn't as lost as some people thought.
