[ what an upgrade. people are actually thinking about her and godzilla or king shark. hopefully she's still the victor. ]

This little world isn't as fun as an incorrect depiction of the Titanic voyage.

My shoes are stained in dry mud and my hair smells like the ocean. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw a kitchen sponge living in a pineapple at this point.

[ so, current roster: damon, katherine, probably elena? stefan is still "who knows" because caroline's currently not talking to him. ]

have you seen damon yet?

[ there's a plethora of answers she could give caroline. "who's damon?" "who dat?" "i don't know her." but she figures it's best to go with the truth... in a katherine-esque sort of way. is she glad she ran into damon when washing up on the shore of the lighthouse? the jury's still out on that one. ]

I ditched him. He has both blue eyes, eleven fingers, and seven toes. That sounds about right, doesn't it?

he would probably have deserved it if you had.

[ she hadn't been worried about that, surprisingly enough. if katherine wanted to stab damon, well, he most likely had it coming. after all, he stabbed stefan in lieu of a hello. ]

there are more of those lighthouses showing up in town. they might bring you back, if any show up there.

[ well, that's a nice piece of info. she'll keep an eye on a lighthouse that says "way back to deerington, 1,500km." she's sure there's one out there. ]

[ caroline blows out a breath. talking to katherine is like playing chess, only she doesn't know how to play chess and she's pretty sure she's always touching the wrong pieces.

but it's not discouraging, not really. it's challenging. if anything, it makes her want to get better at the game. ]

[ first instinct: be defensive. i make plenty of friends! but she's trying to play the katherine pierce game, and katherine is rarely defensive. she thinks before she talks. or types, in this case.

so caroline lets out a breath, and tries to channel that confident air. ]

Drizzly. Doesn't quite offer many opportunities to work on my tan. I'm working on my seashell bra as we speak.

[ considering she feels like shit and is convinced there's seaweed in her hair, she wouldn't be surprised if she looks like one. ]

Remember, if they talk back, they're supposed to do that.

[ caroline and katherine won't know the answer to that question. despite katherine's best efforts, she can't quite fight the exhaustion and the excruciating pain she's in. her healing isn't working as fast as it should—it doesn't feel like it's working at all. katherine passes out. sorry, caroline, you won't be getting an answer about that today. all she gets is a READ. ]
