• Character Name: Katerina Petrova. Katherine Pierce.

• Canon (Date/Year Released)/Canon Point: The Vampire Diaries—4x18: American Gothic (September 10 2009).

• Additional Adjustments to include: Katherine has undergone a great deal in Deerington. While she's still the same person as she was—a survivor, cunning, manipulative, independent, scared to be vulnerable and scared of being alone—she has begun to let people in.

Some key moments in Deerington:
• Katherine grew closer to Stefan Salvatore, someone who she had a complicated romantic and antagonistic past with at home. The two grew closer during their time in Deerington and have rekindled not only their romance but began a strong friendship. Katherine loves Stefan fully, and as he has worked incredibly hard to earn her trust over the year and a half that they've been in Deerington, she will do anything for him.

That said, Katherine will still look out for herself first of all. It's a habit that she's developed for over five hundred years. And it's something that she knows Stefan will understand.

• Katherine has gotten to meet her daughter, who she never got to hold nor find in her lifetime. It has given her a closure she has been seeking for over five hundred years and a hope for the future. Meeting Nadia in the various stages of her life due to an event in Deerington has given Katherine a sense of peace that she has never been able to experience in her long life.

• Katherine has developed for the first time in a long time friendships that were not born out of a need to manipulate or use another person. She has come to care about people in Deerington—these are people who have helped her, made her laugh, see her for who she is and don't judge her for who she's become. Of course, she still has her guard up, but Katherine's begun to care about people for the first time in a long time without the fear of any traumatic ramifications.


Deer Country Attributes


• Canon Powers: Katherine's canon powers will be stronger than her Blood powers. She is a 500+ year old vampire, and by TVD canon, her age makes her one of the strongest vampires in existence.
STRENGTHS
    ENHANCED ABILITIES: This includes strength, speed, and healing. The older the vampire, the stronger they are, so Katherine's pretty strong. She can run very fast. She can throw almost anything as though it were merely a feather. And she can heal (and recover) very quickly from injury.

    HEIGHTENED SENSES: Vampires can hear whispered conversations as though they were happening right in front of them at a loud volume. They can also smell blood and see in total darkness.

    BLOOD HEALING: Her blood can heal wounds. All one has to do is ingest it and scratches, stab wounds, etc. are healed automatically.

    TURNING: If someone dies with her blood in their system, they'll become a vampire.

    MIND COMPULSION: Compulsion is the ability to control minds and alter/erase human memories. This is done through eye contact; the vampire must look into the eyes of their victim and verbally command them. Victims usually repeat the command as a way of acknowledging the compulsion worked. Victims also are unaware that they are being compelled. Once again, the older the vampire, the stronger and better the compulsion; the diet of the vampire is also important - if they feed from the vein, their compulsion is stronger than that of someone who feeds from animals.

    Katherine cannot compel another vampire.

    Compulsion is cancelled out by the consumption or wearing of vervain, therefore making the victim immune. And the victim becomes aware of their state of being compelled if they are turned into a vampire.

    DREAM MANIPULATION: Vampires can control dreams and the subconscious. This means that they can produce and modify dreams, creating almost alternate realities in one's mind, as well as nightmares.

    IMMORTALITY: Once turned, the vampire stops ageing. They can live forever, until they meet their fate with a stake in the heart or sun baking in the sun or are bitten by a werewolf.

    LAPIS LAZULI: This is a mystical stone enchanted by a witch that allows a vampire to walk freely in the sunlight without being burned alive. Katherine's is currently in the form of a bracelet; only she can wear it for it to work.

    VERVAIN IMMUNITY: Katherine is a unique case. She's ingested vervain for over 150 years. This does not mean vervain does not harm her—it still does—however, the effect is lessened due to her built-up resistance.

    TRAVELER WITCH: Being a vampire has rendered her witchy powers null and void. However, she is still considered a member of the Travelers despite being a vampire herself. The Travelers are a sub-culture of witches who had broken away from using nature as their core. They're capable of Traveler Magic, a form of magic specialising in spirit possession. The language of the spells are different from all other forms of magic. Katherine is capable of tapping into her Traveler gene when she is human, and possesses knowledge of the magic, even if it's never quite confirmed she had ever practiced until after her selected canon point.


WEAKNESSES
    STARVATION: A vampire needs to consume blood in order to maintain their strength and fitness. If a vampire is starved, they become weak, and slowly begin to desiccate/mummify.

    VERVAIN: Touching vervain burns a vampire and causes intense pain. If consumed, it is as though their insides are on fire. They become weak, and are unable to attack when touching or consuming this herb. They can be injected with vervain, therefore weakening them or incapacitating them.

    WEREWOLF BITE: A bite from a werewolf is fatal, depending on where Klaus happens to be in the world. Werewolf venom will slowly cause a vampire to hallucinate, suffering a slow and painful death as they almost drive themselves crazy with past memories, hunger, and the inability to control themselves. The only known cure is the ingestion of Klaus Mikaelson's blood. Hybrids or werewolves, their bites are dangerous to vampires.

    STAKE: If staked in the heart, a vampire dies.

    MAGIC: Vampires are affected by witchcraft. Witches can cause vampire brain aneurisms, which basically gives the vampire a migraine that incapacitates them. The older the vampire, the stronger they are, but the stronger the witch, the weaker the vampire—it's a balance that isn't defined as easily as the enhanced abilities, as once upon a time, Katherine was able to pull herself out of Bonnie's aneurism spell, but as Bonnie's grown into a stronger witch, there's a more than likely chance Katherine will not be able to do that again.

    INVITATION: Vampires cannot enter a private residence, one that is owned, with their name on the lease, without an invitation. An invitation cannot be rescinded without the changing of the ownership of the house to another human being, therefore rendering all invitations null and void. If the owner dies, it's a free for all - vampires can enter the residence if there is no ownership.

    If a vampire enters a residence without an invitation, they begin to suffocate.

    SUNLIGHT: Without the day-walking jewellery, vampires will burn in the sun. They'll light up like a Christmas tree.

    MISCELLANEOUS: Vampires can also be burned to death by fire. Rip their hearts out and they will die, too. And if the Original vampire that sired their bloodline dies, they die, too. (If Klaus dies, Katherine goes with him.)

Look, she's an eye. That's kind of gross. But since Remina seems to be someone who is old af like her and seems to share some characteristics that Katherine embodied in order to protect herself and survive, she would be curious about an all-seeing eye. They have so much in common—mind manipulation, being old, being incredibly defensive—that Katherine could feel some kinship with her… and some fear of her, too, since she can see the past and Katherine's has been bloodied.

• Blood Power Manifestation:
Katherine's canon powers will be stronger than her Vileblood powers, but where there is some overlap in the powerset, I'd like it that the powers work in tandem.

POISON: Katherine can create poison with blood magic with varying degrees of toxicity and harm to those she inflicts it upon.

BLOOD MANIPULATION: Being a Blood Minister will be a learned skill. As Katherine is capable of mind control, she'll be able to tap into her blood magic and compulsion at the same time to be able to manipulate an individual to varying intensities.

BLOOD HEALING: Similar to how her blood heals those in canon, her Vileblood will be able to do the same. If Katherine walks out in the sun without her Daylight ring, she'll be able to use her blood to heal herself.
